Innovations in energy demand reduction policy

Innovations in energy demand reduction policy

This research forms part of the Governance theme of the Energy Demand Research Centre and focuses on the prospects for, and development of, demand reduction policies as part the net zero transition. She is exploring the legitimacy and political feasibility of energy demand reduction, as well as alternative ways in which such policies have been formulated in the past and could be formulated in the future. The work pays particular attention to the relations between policy, energy-demanding practices and social changes. It aims to improve understanding of how demand-oriented policies, in different areas, might be formulated to address service demand (for instance, energy sufficiency) in addition to more familiar energy efficiency measures.
